Beginner Level Japanese – Overview

Before we discuss the details, let’s discuss the Objective and List of lessons under the “Beginner Level Japanese” section so we will be ready to dig into the lesson with a clear vision.

By the end of this section, you are expected to be able to read a short self-introduction written in Japanese.

The following are the keywords in each of the materials we will cover:

  1. Hiragana, Alphabets
  2. Katakana, Italics
  3. Kanji, Symbols

Let’s go through each of these!

Section Objective

Our aim after finishing this section is to be able to:

“Read” and “Pronounce” a short self-introductions written in Japanese.

Let’s look at an example of a short self-introduction written using the alphabet (romaji).

A short self-introduction (Alfabet)

Mina san konnichiwa!
Hajimemashite, watashi wa Budi desu.
Indonesia shusshin desu.
15 sai desu.
Douzo yoroshiku onegai shimasu.

We are expected to read the Japanese version as written down below.

みなさん こんにちは!
はじめまして、 私 は ブディ です。
